The tubing from the climbing store had the decorative stitching down the middle on one side the other side is plain. I didn't realize just what you were asking before. I think REI or similar outdoor stores have the same tubing. I was told the local store gets the strap from "Blue Water". There are about 7 different colors in 1" wide, but only 4 in 3/4" wide.

When I cut the gunwales I did it on the tablesaw. More control in my opinion. I did make test cuts in 15 blades I own to find 1/8" width. Now I just would not go below 1/8 instead of being so picky.

My knot was just a square knot - not very clever at all, I have a friend who blows me away with his knowledge of knots. I'm going to get him to do me a demo on a short piece.
