We do try to only get in and out of the boat while it's in the water. The wear seems to be from the skin stretching a lot here from the user's heels (enough to likely influencing the hydrodynamics of the boat) and popping the Zar off the boat.

I've tried the water and shop vac to clean the inside, but the keel traps small rocks and sand that won't come out with a quick water rinse alone. I've had to push the skin away from the keel and use pressurized water to get out those little pieces. Wondered if anyone sealed the edges of their keel with silicone caulk or the like to avoid this.

Bill, what cover/skin coating do you use?
