: We do try to only get in and out of the boat while it's in the
: water. The wear seems to be from the skin stretching a lot here
: from the user's heels (enough to likely influencing the
: hydrodynamics of the boat) and popping the Zar off the boat.

: I've tried the water and shop vac to clean the inside, but the keel
: traps small rocks and sand that won't come out with a quick
: water rinse alone. I've had to push the skin away from the keel
: and use pressurized water to get out those little pieces.
: Wondered if anyone sealed the edges of their keel with silicone
: caulk or the like to avoid this.

Aircraft Dacron (4 ounce) cover heat shrunk onto the frame then covered with a single ply of light fiberglass in epoxy. Ends up with a skin about the same weight as what most others use that is permanant and fairly rugged.
