: Too many machines restrict workspace alright. And some really don't
: get enough use to justify their footprint.
- that is what I have found; my workshop is merely a converted garage, not even a double. My approach was to buy bench mounted tools and put each one on a piece of 3/4" ply that could be screwed to the bench from the top allowing it to be quickly moved. The ones that didn't get used much now sit under the bench, to be brought up when needed. The tools that get the most use are the disc sander, drill press and miter saw. The router table is often used too, but it's very light. The grinder and water wheel on the other hand just get used on sharpening day and gather dust the rest of the time. I have no free-standing tools at all, not enough space for those.
