I haven't seen anyone in the DFW area yet.
However, one of my kayaks paddled past an instructor and his gaggle and he at least recognized what it was.
Still looking for another builder in person.
: My side of it:
: I haven't seen a SoF yet that wasn't one born in my garage. So when
: I noticed John's while traveling for work, curiosity overwhelmed
: me. Stalking him down the highway let me get a good look at it
: *shameless grin*. It looked like a fuselage build, single chine,
: and had this gorgeous translucent skin.
: So when he pulled off in the rest stop, I couldn't help but take
: five minutes out of my day and chat about SoFs. It was great!
: Also gave me a chance to see what nylon & a ZAR finish
: looked like.
: The brief meeting convinced me that I need to hit up the Hudson
: River Greenland Festival next year. I figure it'll be my best
: chance to run into some other SoF builders. Might give me a
: reason to build a more traditional kayak, too. One with a that
: beautiful ZAR finish.
