Three years ago, my daughter and I built Sedna, a 15ft great auk. However, one kayak isn't much fun on it's own, so we built a second one on the same forms and lunched it on Sunday. We called the new kayak Nerrivik. This time we made life simpler for ourseleves by buying ready cut strips, and by using the lessons learned on Sedna, we managed to get the weight down to about 42 lbs.
It's amazing how much more we learned building the second kayak, and, as usual, when we had a problem, by searching the forum I was always able to find someone who'd encountered the same problem before, and solved it, so thanks to all who contribute - it's been a great help.
Both boats are great fun to paddle.
