I'm in Niskayuna, just northwest of Albany. I'd be more than happy to help out, though I'd consider myself a novice SoF builder. I've got two Yost builds under my belt; a SeaTour 15 EXP and a Sea Bee. Is your acquaintance looking for a fuselage frame or a moer traditional SoF?
Tried to find your email, by the way... couldn't find your profile, and I didn't see it in your post. *helpless shrug*
