I`ve always loved redoing an old project. I am sure it will be interesting. You can use a permanent marker to draw the cut lines you need, they sand off well afterward. My own reno project on the 12`er is going well with just two hitches that I can see. The first hitch came when I noticed that the bow was twisted a little...I sanded most of it out and when I add the brass keel it should disappear nicely. The second hitch is a bulge on the stern keel...not sure how that happened but I considered splitting the joints and reshaping. On second thought, I decided that it wasn`t so bad that it needed to be changed. I can always redo it during the summer if it is a major problem but since this little kayak will be an ice runner with a lot of turning and swerving involved, I am sure I won`t notice a thing.
