It looks like I have talked a friend into building a SOF kayak with me. We're going to do bulkhead and stringer to keep costs and time to a minimum and make the woodworking easier, since she's never done any before.
I'm thinking Sea Ranger or the Disko Bay Dave Gentry did with the same construction method. Do I have the right builder and design? For those of you who have experience with either or both designs, here is my question. My friend is quite fit. She's a professional Yoga instructor, and there is absolutely no mistaking it. But- she is a woman, and has moderately wide hips. Are these two designs suitable for a woman, or are they too narrow? My Night Heron has a 16x18 cockpit and some women can't fit in it because of hip width. I just want to be sure before we get started that it's going to work for her.
