Sorry about the slow reply.
I don't know this Alison person, but if your pal weighs under, say, 135-140lbs, she might be better off in a smaller boat. The Disko Bay would still be comfortable and easy to use and roll, but it wouldn't be as stable for her as it would be for a bigger guy. A Yost Sea Rider or Roldarka might be better for her.
Of course, that's all assuming she wants/needs a narrow boat, but a wider recreational style kayak might work or her best, depending on how she will be using it. One of my Chuckanuts, or one of Jeff Horton's boats might work, in that case.
Another option is to build a Disko Bay of traditional construction, and custom fit it to her.
