Well John, I confess that I would need boat design software . . . the old hands aren’t as steady as they were when I was in a design office! But I agree in principle the software only does pretty pictures and fast analyses, once I learned how to interpret the results.

I noticed the WBM site seems to have changed and the study plans are now at http://www.woodenboatstore.com/category/study_plans. I got something old and something (fairly) new . . .

I downloaded the Bill Gardner design so I could see what you were writing about, also an Alden, the Melonseed 13', the Wee Rob canoe, and another White/Herreshoff (starting to become my favourite designer combination) - the Catspaw. As you found the plans are only 2 pages each, merely fair quality at best, and do not compare with the plan for Joel White’s Haven which had 6 pages of text, pictures and readable (with a magnifying glass) plans.

It seems I got lucky with the Haven. Howver, for the price, I cannot complain.
