Etienne's tutorial and encouragement were of great value in getting the skeg built. I switched to a pie-wedge design, but stayed with the pivot pin, in order to avoid having an open hook in the skeg edge. The pie-wedge required a line coming to the housing from above. This turned into an unexpected problem, due to the tight radius of the skeg line, running in tubing from Keri-Tek. I had already switched from 3mm, to 1/8 in. diameter SS cable. Etienne recommended 1x19 weave, so that it would be stiff enough to use without a stiffener tube, at the control box. But, I had to switch to 7x7 weave, to make the curve without undue friction and binding. The more flexy cable does work in the control box. But, if there was something causing friction in the system, the cable could buckle in the control box. I already have more potential skeg extension than I think is needed, so, I have eliminated about an inch of throw, by moving the control knob back, and having that much less cable to contribute to a buckle problem.
