I just completed the "Simple Design Kayak", which is one of Nick Schade's prototype designs. I kept the deck simple with only feature strips on the sheerline and around the cockpit coaming. This design is a hybrid of recreation and sea kayak according to the Guillemot website. In couple days I will get it in the water. I decided to use some maple 1/16 inch lamination to build the outer stems, which took some persuasion to conform to the hull. I only used staples on the sheerline and keel strips, and I used darker strips to hide the staple holes. This was a dream to build compared to the Gully L I built last year.
