I was thinking a pair of butt hinges would be fine with the knuckle of the hinge protruding on the surface (half way as a semi circle) but the flaps of the hinge mounted to the hatch edge which would be thickened up in the rebate (12mm approx) also thickened.Or as an alternative I could perhaps use cylinder hinges or soss hinges that are mounted completely in the hatch edge.There are also some window hinges that are designed to go around rebates.I come from a furniture making background but just wonder if anyone with more boat making experience knows of a better solution.
