Hey Alick-

Nice work so far. As for hinges- you don't need hinges per-se, you can simply put a lip the underside at one edge of the hatch. It will go under the edge the deck. You will need to make a cutout in your "gasket shelf" and add a box underneath to make it fit. As for the ring handle, you can use a marine compression latch. I built a hatch in this manner using a Southco Marine compression latch. It works all right. I did not use a latch with a lock, and for a while I was wishing I did so that I had more security when I'm getting dumped on by waves, but it's held fine. If I'm going in rough conditions I use a float bag inside the compartment anyway.
