Hello Everyone
My curiosity with kayaking began this summer after renting a recreational polypropylene model this past August. I did some early morning exploring in a local marsh and decided that next year I would purchase my own. So checking on kijiji lately for any good deals I came across an ad selling the used patterns to build a strip-built kayak. Along with the pics of the "buck" ( as I like to call it, from my metal-shaping experience) was a pic of the kayak the guy built. I loved what he built and thus started my search for a design I could build. I decided upon the Gill-e-mo Great Auk and the plans will be a Christmas present from my wife-God love her.
So I'm looking forward to the new year and the challenge ahead. I'm a tool-maker by trade and I love the precision, innovation and craftsmanship required to accomplish a project like this.
