Al, I have to take issue with one statement. Polyester gelcoat will bond just fine to fully cured epoxy that has been properly cleaned. I do it all the time on kayak repairs. I have never had a bad bond, but I have occasionally had issues with the gelcoat not curing in patches if the epoxy surface is not properly cured and prepped. When done correctly, it works perfectly.
