Great idea..may be hard to pull off with all the sanding when you fair things down. Honestly I didn't see much of a step off and had almost no air bubbles beyond what what i would expect with 9 oz tape on the seam. Biggest struggle is maneuvering in the aft section of the hull, very tight space. I invested in a paint roller extension pole at Lowes (19.95). Made it much easier to apply epoxy on the seam. I used Maroske fittings at the bow and stern for hand toggles so only missed the last 6 inches or less of the seam. It gets very tight at the bow so expect to miss about 6 inches due to the tight squeeze.
