I removed an entire glass layer on my last boat. The sun came out and caused off gassing on one side of the boat.

I used the heat gun to remove the glass, which was at the leathery stage. I guess yours was still softer than that.

My epoxy went off, so it was easy to sand. I went over the whole surface again with my orbital sander, as I would preparing for glassing. I didn't try to get all the epoxy off but I did go down to the wood on much of the boat, although not particularly into the wood.

There were no apparent differences in the final finish where the wood was still covered or where it was not and the final job was perfect.

If you are in doubt it may be advisable to sand everything smooth, roll on a coat of epoxy as a seal-coat, and continue (a la Rob Macs) by adding the cloth as soon as the seal coat has gone off enough to manage the cloth without it sticking. It this way you will see if you are going to get blotches before you add the cloth. I didn't do this, but I am a bit of a risk taker sometimes.

If you epoxy still hasn't gone off though then scraping and sanding right back to the wood is going to be your only option really I guess. I don't know why your epoxy didn't harden, so it may still, or it may never, depending on the reason.

It is easy to lose concentration while dispensing resin. "Did I press the plunger four or five times?" So I always press once on the resin, once on the hardener, once resin once hardener etc, always beginning with resin and ending with hardener. That way you may forged how many presses you had, but it will be the same for both.

I also keep the resin containers beside a heat source while glassing so that the resin stays thin and the plungers come all the way to the top again easily before being depressed again.

I hope the above points do not seem like a pedantic insult to anyone's intelligence, I am sure most of us follow these basic procedures, but anyone starting out who hasn't developed these practices may not have to deal with a failed resin batch down the line if Thew see it.
