Have been thinking about a Njord. Sounds like a fast boat, reasonably responsive in conditions given its size, capable for short expeditions. I'm trying to replace a Valley Nordkapp which I love (fast, secure in seas, good for trips), but which is heavy (over 60 lbs). That seems sufficient motivation to build another stripper (number five, after an Outer Island, an Isfjord, a Petrel and a Petrella).

My concern is the low forward deck height, which looks to be 10.25" in the specs.... I don't paddle that way any more. Bjorn's site says that dimension can be easily increased, and I did so by one inch on the OI at Jay's suggestion and it came out well.

Has anyone raised the foredeck on a Njord, and if so, by how much, and how did it come out?

Any comments on other candidates to replace the Nordkapp also welcome.

Consider a BTD Njord. Good size boat with serious speed potential. Also likes the bumpy stuff.
