In reading the discussion responds, I decided to check out the kajak Sport website. In the process I discovered new instructions. These instructions were not available at the time I purchased my Kajak Skeg. It looks like they are recommending an installation of a temporary insert, made with a 6.2 mm width, to be installed in the skeg box slot during installation. This may be more aligned with Reg Lake instructions of shimming the opening during installation. Other tips I pick up are gluing the tubing housing to the control box, and skeg blade swing of 40 degrees or less. Of course I determined this by finding out were the skeg blade slot starts to separate from the post and then adjust blade at a slightly less angle.

Again, overall I like the overall design of the kajak skeg system with a good control box, a thick cable, a low profile design, raised ridged flanges for less jamming by sand/dirt, and good bellcrank leverage on the skeg blade. I just think they needed make the box walls out of thicker ABS plastic.
