The conductor comes in while the orchestra is tuning up. He sees the double bass player surrounded by splinters and in a state of shock.

"What the hell is going on here?" says the conductor.

The double bass player snaps out of his catatonic state and blurts out, "The viola player came over here and smashed up my instrument!"

So the conductor goes over to the viola player who is crying and confused. "And what is your problem?" he asks.

The viola player wails, "The double bass player passed by earlier and turned on of my pegs, and he won't tell me which one!"
