I may steal that idea. Though my table sas is a bit narrow as standard, I have to make a proper table for it.

You are definitely welcome to the idea- I probably stole it from somebody else, and you can probably improve on it.

I was lucky to have a 'strong' spring around (spare from a guitar side bending machine); some dishwasher and oven door springs might work- though it is tough to 'visit the dump' (aka 'tip') nowadays, so 'shopping for parts' is more difficult.

The 'arm' out to the left (in the pic) is for clamping to the table (if you are ripping a wide board, you will still need to move the 'featherboard' from time-to-time) and I glued some 120 grit sandpaper to the underside to help prevent sliding on the saw table.

Nowadays I'm less 'fussy' about my tools, and I'll probably drill and tap a couple of holes in the saw table to anchor the featherboard, next time I rip strips. (this is all assuming I ever use up the pile of strips in the rack now....)
