I've had similar occasional problem using a skill saw with Lowes skillsaw attachement fence..not that severe though.
Usually happens towards the end of ripping a single plank.

But i really like using the skillsaw/couple horses..a 2nd plank alongside the first so i have something flat for the skill saw to sit on as the board im ripping gets too narrow...as opposed to table saw to cut strips.

So i cut them just a little thicker than 1/4 inch using thin kerf blade and then shoot through a planer set at 1/4"
i place on the driveway next to me while ripping.

Yeah down side is not quite as many strips per board. It's fast, easdy, accurate though.

stop and check your thickness as you cut.
