Im no roller, but if a layback is one's only roll then it rather limits the design of boat. In anycase, I find the whole rolling as a sport thing rather strange. Some folk seem to consider kayaking to be an upside down sort of sport. It must be annoying if one is trying to cover some ground to have these people corkscrewing their way to their destination and holding the whole flotilla back.

I suppose they keep the sharks focussed on something other than the sensible upright folk who are just trying to be modest and lead a balanced life.

Windsurfers who have a flawless water start tend to be the ones who fall in a lot. Maybe kayakers with a flawless roll are the ones who can't stay upright.

Sour grapes I hear people muttering, perhaps.
