A few weeks ago my boat went off the top of the truck while I was loading it. It was a very windy, and I probably was a bit tired from paddling. It was blown right off the top of the truck and on the gravel As seems to be usual the worst damages are road or car related rather than something encountered on the water. There were two places on the ends where the fiberglass chipped off taking a little wood with it, and more disturbingly a crack at the deck hull seam, about 2 inches long. Actually the crack was in the wood rather than the glue seem, but very close. The crack was up towards the bow, in that spot where the inside fiberglass tape may not have rolled as far as I thought it did. I was also conservative with the endpour in my build. The only thing I can think of is the crack happened because there was a gap between the end of the glass tape and the endpour leaving a a weak spot, because otherwise I have never seen anything like that. I can't really see that far up there so that is an assumption. Repairs have been made, but I may do another endpour for peace of mind. Anyway I think it is something to think about when considering endpours.
Now for questions, glass repairs always leave discolored spots, sometimes they fade with time, sometimes not. Are there any tips for minimizing these spots?
