Well what's the point in laminating glass over a layer of kevlar? It would eliminate all abrasion properties of the kevlar…

Diolen has been around for a long time, it's basically polyester fibre and even though properties are similar to those of kevlar, they aren't quite the same. Diolen is easier to wet out but abrasion resistance and in fact all other properties are lower than those of kevlar. Diolen will not wet out clear like glass, it will alway remain foggy. It might be somewhat cheaper but since it's not being used as much since the introduction of kevlar, weights and weaves are not as diverse as one would wish for.
For anyone aiming at great performance and light weight I would recommend hybrids of kevlar and carbon on the hull and carbon/glass everywhere else. Vacuum bagging always is a good idea, too…
