If you've been on the forum a while you may remember years back I took a spill and hit my head on a rock, jamming my sunglasses temple into my eye. That caused a leaky vessel in my eye which ultimately required laser surgery. The doctor said it was probably a pre-existing problem that was made worse by the accident. Well, guess what- now the other eye has the blue-green spot in my vision. The doctor said to wait it out and it may heal on its own in two months, or else more surgery.

What he also said is that because of the scarring from my surgery I need to ALWAYS wear sunglasses any time I am in the sun, and that for me this would be imperative, although he recommends it to all his patients. Since I have scarring I am more prone to damage to my eyes from the sun. So I told him to set me up with the best sunglasses he had, which were Maui Jims. WOW- $500 for those suckers! So I said hold off and let me "think about it." (Translation- Let me see if I can find them cheaper online.) I always try to give my money to the little local guy, but $500 seemed high. Unfortunately that was all he had in polarized. It turns out to be maximum retail price.

I'd like to field the group and see if any of you can recommend a good online retailer that sells prescription sunglasses at good prices. Looking for polarized lenses, and I like Arnette, Oakley, Maui Jim, and Spy just from past choices but open to other brands. I know Oakley has a price fixed at all their retailers so I figure no deals on Oakleys, but I did find Arnettes for a good price. Just checking around with my resources before I buy.

Oh, and by the way, I already do wear the sunglasses all the time and keep them around my neck always ready, but recently switched from contacts to glasses so I need prescription sunglasses.
