None of this thread is about wether an "end pour" is good or not. It's really about how do you do one when it's 20 degrees outside or if you even want to go through that. A solid end area is always good so you can drill it out and run a grab cord. Many commercially made kayaks don't do that but choose to run a vinyl tube to run the grab line through. Home builders just need a way of attaching the extreme ends of the deck.
