It is an interesting idea and looks pretty nice. Years ago there was a guy selling kayaks made out of this corrugated plastic sign board and pvc pipe. It was quite nice and pretty durable.

I would consider any folding plastic design essentially disposable, but for the right application it looks like a great design.
