I have glassed the Expedition SUP, using the Resin Research epoxy. I am still trying to decide how I like this epoxy. It is very viscous and does not wet out as well as my other brand. It also floats cloth easily. It is great for filling the weave and for things like getting good coating on Maroske fittings. Covers thick. It also looks crystal clear. This stuff also cures very quickly but leaves about an hour to work with it.
Biggest concern is that I tried to cut out the glass over the a leash cup and I had delamination around the cup. I have never had a problem with delamination before. I have had it happen in a reasonable situation like impact but never by simply cutting nearby with a razor knife. This is very troubling. I plan on waiting a week for the epoxy to cure fully then try again with the remaining cups and the fin box.
I finished this one out ( needs sanding and varnish ) at 30 lbs for a 12.5 ft x30 inch SUP with a displacement hull toward the bow.
Cant wait until it warms up so I will get the drysuit out and go paddle in a couple of weeks.
