I am a bit more thrifty and frequently shop antiques shops for woodworking tools, since so many of the fancy ones out now are reproductions of old tools to begin with. Believe it or not- I run into boatbuilders' slicks not infrequently. Not wide chisels, mind you, but actual slicks with a long handle. Might want to add antiques shops to your regular window-shopping destinations.
