Just a guess-assuming you can see your Flickr photos on your computer, using the link you are posting- would be something to do with privacy settings, cookies, log-in to Flickr, etc.
For me, sometimes troubleshooting these problems has required the help of a local friend with a computer and a few minutes on the phone.

If you have not established a 'Profile' here, and are not posting with a password- your username will not be in blue font - then the way to post pictures is as you have tried - with a link to the URL of the picture at its location online @flickr, photobucket, your own webspace, etc. Make sure the URL works from your home computer.

If you establish a profile here, and log in (Preferences page?) then your username will be in bold blue font. When you hit 'Post' or 'Reply' you will find a 'button' which will allow you to upload a picture from your computer directly to the server here at kayakforum.

I've used both methods in the past month, and they have worked for me- though it took a bit of troubleshooting to figure out the system.
