Potentially. It depends where you live and how much exposure the surface will receive. You do have to be more mindful with a black kayak. That is one disadvantage of black. Epoxy starts to deflect at a certain temperature, like all thermoplastics. Every brand has a different HDT. Generally the surface temperature has get pretty high for to cause serious, long-term issues (ie over 120 F for extended periods). I've built several all-black boats (Black Pearls notably) and have not heard of any issues from customers. There should be little issue having a black hull if stored properly (indoors or out of direct sun). It'll spend most of it's time being cooled off. :)

I have hull- a- vator rack too. I had to build a fiberglass shell lined with mini cell foam to put between the kayak and the hard plastic mounts on the bottom of the rack contact points, without the pad it would pressure ding the lamination. How do you handle that problem?

The Hull-a-vator was on my customers rig (I have the Ridgeline in the background). He strapped some foam cradles to the bottom of the kayak before setting it on the rack.
