I'm finally putting the first (sheer) strips on my Outer Island. OI builders know there's a form 10.5, 6" between forms 10 and 11. When I fasten the strips (port and starboard strips) to forms 10 and 11 both strips stand off of form 10.5 by about 1/8". I have now fastened the strips to every form except 10.5 and the lines look "fair". If I clamp the strips to form 10.5 a "waist" appears. I see three options, none of which jump out as an obvious choice:
1. Move form 10.5 aft until it touches both strips. I'd also have to lower it so it would not affect the rocker.
2. Pad the form out by adding masking tape until it touches both strips. Ditto on the affect on rocker, as well as who knows what else later in the build.
3. Ignore form 10.5. Don't staple any strips to it. That sounds like it will be a significant problem when it comes time to strip the deck and form 10.5 just falls out.
Jay's instructions warn not to obsess about minor moving of forms at the early start of the stripping, but I want to avoid unintended consequences. As I've noted above, I see the potential for some of those.
Any advice, please?
