I used fiberglass sleeves, just as in the youtube video. I then used slightly thickened epoxy to saturate the sleeve. Two more coats of slightly more thickened epoxy to finish it up. They were lightweight, sturdy and look fantastic. I did a few trial runs on the cockpit cutout until I felt I had it right.

Give it a try. It's a great way to make fittings. I used some cheap computer software to make the templates for drilling the initial holes.
