I use a gallon and a half. With 4oz glass and 3 to 4 fill coats. I rarely leave any in the cup but it happens. Don't float your glass, especially on the inside and use a squeegee to level fill coats, be carefull about how much you pour onto the boat so it doesnt run off onto the floor.
My first boat took 3 gallons :-)
