Great tips. Here's another if you have a basement shop:

They're tough. The vibration of people walking around upstairs will loosen any dust that's on your shop's exposed joists or ceiling. So, varnish just before you go to bed. The varnish will skin over while everyone is sleeping.

I know the hard way. Our shop is below two of the busiest rooms of any house: the kitchen and the living room.

One reason why I have most of mine commercially sprayed at a bodyshop! ;)
