I really like the look of Maroske fittings but have never seen them personally. Is there a problem with them holding moisture since they do not drain without turning the kayak over? It seems like they could be a place for mildew to grow.

Hi Thor,
There shouldn't be any problem moisture being held, just store your kayak hull up. If you transport your kayak on on its gunwale on J brackets, the fittings will be drained and dry in about a mile of driving. :)

If you're paddling on salt water, there's less concern about mildew, the salt that will remain kills mildew spores. It also wears any cordage in contact with it. It's why sailing halyards and other lines don't last all that long, salt crystals causing micro cuts in the fibres.
