Have to agree with Etienne here. My first build was a Guillemot (standard size) and i went overboard with 6 oz glass. 2 layers on the inside behind the cockpit and 2 layers just aft of the cockpit on the outside of the deck. Needless to say you can almost stand on that part of the deck! Bulletproof...yes. But at a significant cost in weight. Outside of the deck you are looking for abrasion resistance. Inside is where you will get more strength with the bonus of not having anyone peek in there at the quality of your work.
Needless to say on my next build went way less overboard on the glass.
