Hello Jack

The only thing you need to worry about is making sure you place the mold release plastic on the inside before you start the layup.
The process is pretty easy and you can always do it again if it does not work out just perfect the first time. Remember that you will make your hatch rim and then have to trim it to fit before glueing it on. Its a no worry process unless you glue the whole mess to the inside of the boat by forgetting the mold release.
One tip, I use bags of rice to weight down the layup after I have applied all the tape and epoxy. I just add a layer of plastic and cover the whole thing with 5 lb bags of rice. I like rice.
