Jack, It is actually easier if you have corners. Just overlap the fiberglass and if you think the fiberglass is building more in one area, maybe the corners, just keep varying the length of the fiberglass strips, so edges of the fiberglass are balanced around the hatch.

When laying the contact paper, start in the center and smooth toward the edges. You do not want it to get air bubbles underneath.

Also, make sure you pack the thicken epoxy good, so that all the possible voids are minimize.

If you use graphite powder, it only takes a 1/2 teaspoon to really blacken 4 oz of epoxy.
