Thanks. I am trying to return it to as close to original as I can without doing more than needed. I have removed the fiberglass that was on the outside of the hull and stripped off the varnish. As the varnish came off I found quite a bit more wood filler, probably durhams wood powder, than I though was on the boat. It was used to touch up small dings, scrapes and natural hollows in the wood that are normal for a boat of this type. I have removed as much of that as possible.
Repairs over the years have left some damage to wood that I want to address. Lost of overtightened screws now set deep in the planking is the biggest issue.

Has anyone tried wetsanding a boat with linseed oil to fill gaps. I have been reading quite a bit about this on the wood boat forum but I am not getting responses on that site. Apparentyl the wetsanding with linseed/terpentine 50/50 will help to seal the wood and fill small gaps.

On the other hand using linseed at all sound redundant since using a marine quality tonge oil based varnish thinned to 50/50 can do the same just without the sanding soup rubbed into the cracks.
