One thing to consider in the calculation of cost/value for a sander: replacing the velcro pads.
I've had quite a few ROS sanders over the years , mostly Bosch (which I wouldn't recommend) and cheap DeWalt sanders. When the velcro pads on the Bosch sanders needed replacing, the cost was almost as much as a new 'POS' DeWalt.
With a Festool, there'd be no question, since the tool is so expensive, but with a mid-range tool like the Bosch it does make you wonder if you are 'throwing good money after bad' by replacing worn-out parts.

What's the pad life on the expensive sanders?

And, do other sanders besides the Festool require proprietary sanding disks?

It is convenient having a couple of sanders with different grit disks to hand, which might be another argument for cheap sanders.

That said, when a friend asked for a sander recommendation (for a shop 'in' the living area of his house), I suggested the Festool and matching vacuum, and he's been happy - very clean.

I sand in my garage - usually with the door and window open and a fan on, so I can use something cheap and dirty. If I lived in a place with 'real winter' I would get something better. (BTW, the Bosch dust-collection hose works OK, but I hate having a noisy shop vac running.....).

The Mirka CEROS looks nice, but at $500 without vacuum, it's in the 'lottery' category for me. I now have a decent-sized compressor, so an air sander (Dynabrade?) would make more sense, anyhow.

Too many choices.....
