I've used my pneumatic sanders all day, 6 to 7 hours a day every day for weeks on end, they are still like new. Mine have exhaust tubes to duct the used air away from the work area, also means you don't have to worry about the lube oil getting on the work, makes them slightly quieter too.

The key is to keep them oiled, some use stationary oilers on the discharge of the compressor but then you can't use the air blaster on wood or areas to be painted, so I oil each tool by hand each day, couple drops of oil and you're good to go.
