Thanks for the feed-back, guys. I actually have a perfect size chunk of window plastic left over from one of fall's house projects. Why I never thought of using that for this application, who knows? If it were snake, it'd have bit me. And when I say chunk, it's just that. It's 60 mil, and there's nothing light or dainty about it. Warping of breaking would never be my problem. There'd be no need to glass it.
Kept a couple small pcs. that are too small to do much of anything with that I'll take the ROS or a belt sander to, to see if I can shave the thickness down just a bit. If it just ends up melting and fouling the paper, I'll check out what my options are for buying thinner, maybe welding two thin pcs together as did Reg. Not that I'm really that anal about shaving weight, but her boat comes in right at around 37lbs. Hate adding what seems like nearly another pound just for a little skeg blade!
Reg & Oliver, good ideas, too. The King Starboard material certainly looks like the real deal, and I wouldn't have known it exists. Gonna see where the plastic glass takes me first, since I already have that in hand. I'll keep everyone posted.
Thanks again guys,
Todd
