Hi Daan, I also sometimes forget to take photos of some of the stages. Keeping a Facebook gallery going of the project to bore friends with helps me to remember.

I cut my strips to 5mm. But I have not used poplar for major planking, only for accents, so I have not experienced your problem.

The poplar is quite heavy. I'm not sure I would want to use too much of it. It does behave itself well enough though, machining wise, for cutting very small strips. I think your hull may stiffen up as you get more strips on. Just be careful not to get flat spots between the formers by pulling, I presume you are clamping between stations.

I find some of the poplar has a green colour. I dig through the pile to find nice white planks. Getting the wood one wants over here is not so easy. I usually have to compromise, otherwise I would have an ulcer. They are only boats after all.

We are so privileged to be able to exercise our creativity. 90% of the world's people are in full time survival mode. I shall build another boat to honour them.
