Question: if you get flipped when wearing a PFD in a kayak you presumably aren't going to roll all the way. I didn't see this demonstrated. Does the boat go half-way so you can simply brace back up again, or does it fill with water, as seems logical if you aren't using a skirt?

Not nearly enough bouyancy in the PFD to stop you going 180.A slap on the water with your paddle usually helps you not going past 45 or maybe 50.Beyond that and it will need to be a big powerful sweep .If you have no spray skirt ,when you "vacate" up side down the same volume of water as what your lower body half is forced in, by the atmosphere,to your cockpit volume.That is usually all you need to bail out when you have successfully righted it.
