Sooner rather then later.
Its been 2 years delays usual due to work or the lack of. The fiberglass question is a curiosity thing, not something I plan to do on this build, maybe my next build for giggles. Since it was listed as an option in an sof book I thought I would explore it. I have a friend who is constantly pesturing me to use plywood or fiberglass on it, or use pond liner as the skin. He thinks Nylon is too expensive, exotic, and troblesome to deal with, but he is also the kind of person who can't swim, is scared of canoes and kayaks, and thinks a boat is not a boat unless it has an outboard, so I don't take his suggestions too seriously.

Is this Wolfgangs Baidarka? I like the look of its skin. Funny thing, I typed in his name in google and got the instructions I am using to build the design I chose. The design I chose to try is of the F1 from Cape Falcon website, and I am using a greenland kayak instructions to build it. It seems to be turning out ok, but there are certain measurements in my build that are 1/2 inch out from the plans, it turned out 23.5 inches wide as opposed to 23. I think it might end up being 14.5 feet instead of 14. I went with the F1 design because I didn't want a 18ft boat, the F1 was smaller and seemed to be built using the same technique. Could have done a fusalage frame build but it seemed all the short ones were not going to be deep enough for me, and all the deeper ones seemed too long. On hind sight, I now know you don't need a deep boat to hold a 180lb person, and deeper does not mean more stable.

Anyway back to my skin.... ok that sounded dirty but you know what I mean. So far from the responses I am thinking a dark brownish tan color or a redish brown. Is it possible to dye the nylon in a bath first then stretch it over the frame or should it be done after the fabric is stretched over the frame?
