Question is how weighty is a spare paddle capable of supporting a full weight float re entry and is a full weight re entry more effective ?

I think that you'd need a steel paddle shaft for that application.
Some problems with that is that it could effect compasses, twould get rusty, and oh yeah, tis a bit heavy.

Strangely, I can do chin-ups with my GP which should allow your method of re-entry without breaking the paddle. But it's a heavy paddle, 56oz I think, of Southern Yellow Pine. I still wouldn't use it to lever back into my kayak.
If I do exit and re-enter, I stick the paddle out to one side only and swing up on the other side, the weight of the paddle and its contact with the water will stabilise the kayak sufficiently to get back in, it just takes a wee bit of finesse. It's a similar idea to a flying proa where the ama (outrigger) is on the windward side rather than the leeward side and pressing down on the water.
